Caleb grew up in a Christian home and his parents were missionaries to Africa, where he spent the first two years of his life. His father was a pastor, and Caleb can quote Veggie Tales in his sleep! But life has it's curve balls and his family has experienced plenty of those. Through it all his faith has remained constant. He'd like to be able to say that he has consistently lived a life that glorifies God in every way, but says that he has certainly had his struggles. But he knows that the Lord uses his shortcomings and he's grown a tremendous amount through them. He's learned that all of his hope in this life comes from putting his faith in God and knowing that His promises are true.
In his own words about joining the Emerald team, "Besides living on the mission field to start my life, I had never taken a huge interest in missions trips. But Sherri approached me in the summer of 2016 and asked if I would consider going on a missions trip to India. I'm not sure she actually knew my name at the time, but she knew I played music and she knew she wanted a worship leader for the trip. I had been involved in music as a ministry for the last 10 years but very rarely as the role of leading. So I prayed about it and sought God's will. I never had a huge epiphany or a clear dream giving me an answer, instead it was the logic of, "why not?". I couldn't justify not going on this trip...I had the finances and time and I know this is what the Lord calls us to. So I agreed to go!
The India trip was incredible in so many ways. I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into. I grew up in a Pentecostal environment, but this was the first experiencing the Holy Spirit moving this powerfully in my adult life. We saw God do so many miracles; healings, spiritual freedom, prophecies, and food multiplication to name a few. My eyes were opened to a lot of things, and honestly a lot of doubts and reservations were removed from my heart. The Lord gave me courage in leading music, something that has continued since I got back from the trip. My view on worship changed dramatically. Instead of the regimented Sunday-morning song lists I saw it as true worship, laying aside pride and performance and entering into the presence of God. It was truly beautiful. The India trip set me on fire for God, and my life is forever changed because of it."
Caleb is such a blessing to the Emerald family. His passion and reverence in worship changed us all on that India trip and he is here to bless and teach all of you as well. It is Caleb leading us in worship that is in spirit and in truth that allows us to usher in the glory of the Lord before we minister at our events.
He currently resides in Chicagoland and when he is not acting as our worship superhero, he is working as a civil engineer.
